Spice Up the Olympics

I just had to blog about this. You see, I'm a huge Spice Girls fan. I remember asking my Kuya Arnel to buy me a cassette tape of their first album, Spice. I was so fond of Wanna Be and Stop that I danced to it whenever I hear the song. I even believed in stupid rumors like Scary Spice and Sporty Spice are not really girls but changed their preference. You know, shallow elementary stories.

And then during high school, they released Spice World which features one of the songs in the video above, Spice Up Your Life. I was more into them because they always have the girl power vibe. And because every girl was empowered by these women, I guess more ladies expressed their individuality and what they can achieve during that time.

Yes, I tracked her even out of Spice Girls :P
That's why I was so sad when the news of Geri Halliwell (Ginger Spice) surfaced to be leaving the band. I love Baby Spice (Emma Bunton) and all, but Ginger was sort of my hero among all of them. I don't like Posh that much until I heard her single, "Not Just an Innocent Girl" on later years.

But the closing of Olympics brought back too many childhood memories. Now who's not hoping that they release another album must be mad. But for the meantime, let's cherish our Spice Girls genre and cross our fingers that they get back together and sing their epic hits.
