Forbidden City: Chernobyl Diaries
SM Cinexclusive brings us Chernobyl Diaries
this November for a fright and a half. Last Monday, we were invited to the
Advance Screening to this terrifying movie, brought by the creator of the
Paranormal Activity films.
Chernobyl Diaries is an American flick
about six tourists who wanted to experience an extreme adventure. Abandoned for
more than 25 years, Uri, the tour guide, takes them to the city of Pripyat, the
former dwelling of the workers of the Chernobyl Nuclear Reactor. Before their
adventure started, Ukranian guards have already forbidden them to enter the
city due to unmentioned problems, but went through the guided trip via a
special entrance.
What they thought was an abandoned city was
a place where strange things happen. Disaster even struck them when they were
forced to spend the night there because their van wouldn’t start. Not knowing
that they were never alone, they were taken by unknown creatures one by one.
This movie brought me to jump off my seat.
Even if I couldn’t understand what was chasing the characters, the dark
background and the mysteriously abandoned place gave me the creeps. I think the
movie would probably better if they mentioned how the so-called “patients” come
to chase people who go the city and why they abduct them. Its fresh to see
Jesse McCartney being the reluctant little brother, who just wants to propose
to his girlfriend. A little song number might probably be nice.
If you want to give your girlfriend or date
a scare, this might just be the movie you are looking for. Chernobyl Diaries is
exclusively shown at SM Cinemas.
The film stars Jesse McCartney, Jonathan
Sadowski, Olivia Dudley, Ingrid Bolsø Berdal, Dimitri Diatchenko, Devin Kelley
and Nathan Phillips. Directed by Bradley Parker.
Thanks to Ferds and SM Cinema for the
advance screening invite.

I remember my sister doing a report about the incident in Chernobyl back in her HS days. I saw the trailer and I wasn't very impressed though. I dunno... Maybe I'll just wait for it on DVD, perhaps?
