I Spy A Spy Girl: SALT

I am never much of an action-movie-fan type of girl. Chick flicks mostly fill my movie list. But when I see a kick-ass spy chick and a top CIA operative like Evelyn Salt, gone are the pink frills, because, this, I just had to see.

Evelyn Salt (Angelina Jolie) is a Russian sleeper spy, who was sworn into duty since she was young girl. When she was accused by a fellow Russian named Vassily Orlov (Daniel Olbrychski) that a Russian spy would kill the Russian President during the funeral of the Vice President of the USA and that certain spy has the same name as hers, the CIA went capturing her.

Out to protect her husband, she went on a running spree to make sure that no one could harm him. Even her partner, Ted Winter (Liev Schreiber), did not believe that after years of training with the group, she would betray them all. But as her mission to her country is getting near the deadline, will her skills and knowledge make her execute her duties, bring back the love of her life and stop those who are trying to capture her? Watch SALT and go all throughout her massive quest for her country.

The movie, although there are lots of one to two minute flashbacks, were unpredictable. Though confusing at some parts, on who’s who and who’s really sleeping with the enemy, the storyline has a goal – To make Salt achieve the plan that has been set out for them for a long time. But since she has learned to love Mike Krause (August Diehl), her husband, Evelyn has gone what most women experience when it comes to the matters of the heart. I never thought that this movie has everything, action, thriller, a kick-ass chick and a little bit of romance on the side.

Truly, this is not just for the boys to drool at Angelina Jolie’s hotness factor, but also to empower bad-ass women like her. The effects are colossal and the stunts were oh-so-wild. Whenever Angelina Jolie tries to leap out of a building or transfer from one cargo truck to another, makes you want to leap out to help her.

4 and a half stars for this awesome movie. Oh, and if she only wore spiked heels, I’d be praising Evelyn Salt for all eternity.

  1. I agree about Angelina being kick ass in this movie. And that the stunts were great, and it was exciting. But it was really more about making Angelina looking bad ass, toting those big guns and making those flying leaps. Plot-wise - ang gulo! Parang they didn't know where to take it - towards the end, what with happened with Liev, I thought it became just plain silly. Sayang, because Angelina does the tough girl thing really well.
