As people slowly embrace the new normal, Jollibee hopes to bring back the joyful moments that Filipinos miss in its stores

For many Filipinos, Jollibee is a place that holds many joyful memories. From family celebrations, impromptu work lunch dates, thesis meet-ups after school, and even simple family lunch out on weekends, Jollibee has been witness to these countless memorable moments.

These ordinary joys, however, were temporarily put on hold because of the pandemic and the restrictions that had to be set for everyone's safety. While Jollibee continued to serve its customers as they stayed home or experienced limited mobility, most still longed for the joy of getting together and eating out at their go-to happy place.

With the new normal comes a new start, a new hope, and a new future that is in our hands to shape. The pandemic may have exposed our weaknesses, but it has also built new courage and strength. It is a courage that says, “I will start again even if it means beginning at a lower state”. It is a courage that operates on humility and certainty to fight despite external factors. Indeed, to succeed in this battle we have to overcome uncertainty with a different kind of strength and resilience, and a new kind of courage.

As a developing economy, it is no surprise that the Philippines still has a long way to go when it comes to financial literacy. Just before the government imposed the enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) amidst the COVID-19 pandemic, the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) conducted its 2019 Financial Inclusion Survey (FIS), which revealed that Filipino adults could only answer 1 in 3 financial literacy questions correctly. Only a small number of respondents (8%) got all three questions correctly, while almost one-fourth (24%) obtained a zero score. 

As many families struggle to cope with the economic effects of the pandemic, the need for financial education becomes more crucial than ever. And with this, is the increasing need for digital tools that would make accessing financial services faster, safer and more convenient.
