MediCard’s Livewell Lifestyle Management Program Advances Support for Chronic Disease Patients

All coaches are based in the Philippines, trained in lifestyle management, and able to communicate in both English and Tagalog, ensuring support is both accessible and relatable.

Lifestyle Management Program Patient Journey

For one patient living with diabetes, the decision to commit to the program came after a personal turning point, “I tried to manage my nutrition on my own but failed and I fainted. I thought of my son, and I realized that even though I’m a nurse, I needed a professional nutritionist who could check my weight, daily needs and nutritional requirements to formulate the right diet for my condition.”

She had one clear goal when she decided to join the program: to better manage her condition. Through Livewell, she now works closely with MediCard’s medical and nutrition team, receiving ongoing support tailored to her needs.

Registered Dietitian Emma Perida emphasizes that sustained patient success is driven by clarity and continuous support, both of which are embedded in the program.

“Patients stay consistent because of the milestones we set together. When the goals and expected results are clear, they follow through. And as they go along, we continue to support them, communicate with them, and follow up. They know we care,” said Perida. 

Perida says the coaches’ responsiveness and genuine concern drive accountability, paired with a personalized approach that Livewell reinforces through structured coaching and clear communication channels.

Dr. Mary Joanne Ramos, MediCard’s Head of Medical Governance and Capability, emphasized that one of the core philosophies behind every lifestyle management program is empowering patients through sustainable habits. She also mentioned that for such a program to be considered a success, the three C’s should be present: “It must be continuous, consistent, and complete. Continuous effort, consistent good habits, and complete adherence to medication and follow-ups are what truly move patients toward better health.”

Bringing Livewell to Life: Event Launch and Roadshow

The program officially kicked off with a 3-day launch eventtitled “Livewell Expedition” at MediCard offices, delivering an immersive Livewell experience to MediCard employees. 

The event featured curated “health destinations” guiding participants through a holistic wellness journey, starting with blood tests to assess key health indicators. There were also face-to-face medical consultations and personalized health assessments with a doctor, and several wellness booths offering essential health resources and products. 

Since launch, the program has been continuously rolled out through a series of roadshows nationwide to keep the momentum going, bringing similar wellness experiences to several corporate accounts of MediCard.
