The Medical City’s Wellness and Aesthetics Institute Unveils the Latest in Laser Technology

The Medical City’s (TMC) Wellness and Aesthetics Institute (WAI) has proudly unveiled the latest in laser technology at its main healthcare complex in Ortigas Avenue, Pasig City. The event, dubbed “Laser Artistry: A Showcase of The Medical City Dermatology Wellness and Aesthetic Center” featured German-made Asclepion MeDioStar, a one-of-a-kind diode laser technology that offers the safest and most effective treatment for dermatological conditions as well as cosmetic procedures.

Kicking off the program was TMC Dermatology Head, Dr. Cecilia Roxas-Rosete, who delivered the welcome remarks. She highlighted the members of the TMC’s Section of Dermatology as a group of dedicated, board-certified dermatologists who are all committed in delivering quality and ethical dermatologic care in all aspects of dermatology – medical, aesthetic, and procedural dermatology. Dr. Rosete also emphasized the need to collaborate with their dermatology colleagues from the different TMC satellite clinics that are strategically located all over the Country.

According to Dr. Rosete, the start of the Dermatology Section’s partnership with the TMC satellite clinics is aligned with TMC's overall focus on patient-centric care - providing patients with personalized management to address their specific needs and empowering patients with correct knowledge and tools to aid in decision making.

Ten various units comprise the Dermatology Section. These include Contact dermatitis, Environmental & Occupational Dermatology; Dermatologic Surgery/MOHS Micrographic Surgery; Dermatopathology; Hair Restoration; Immunodermatology; Laser; Functional Medicine; Pediatric Dermatology; Photodermatology and Procedural Dermatology.

The welcome remarks were followed by a special message from Dr. Christian Flores, TMC-WAI’s clinical director.

TMC’s WAI, dubbed as a unique facility within the hospital, is a one-stop shop for diagnostic, therapeutic and rehabilitative interventions that cater to the needs of individuals of all ages looking for better health maintenance and total wellness.

Both doctors highlighted TMC’s unwavering mission to be the Filipino people’s primary partner in health by continuing to leverage cutting edge innovations across its network while maintaining its patient-centric care. In addition, “Beauty-preneur” and health and wellness advocate Nikki Tang, CEO of DermAsia and DMark Beauty, was the event’s special guest speaker. Her two successful companies are synonymous with beauty and state-of-the-art solutions for the hair, skin, and body.

Finally, unveiling the “star” of the afternoon’s program was Dr. Rhesa Martinez from TMC Dermatology, who gave an introduction on Asclepion’s MeDioStar laser technology. The cutting-edge machine is also a dream-come-true for medical professionals and technicians who would certainly appreciate its innovative design features. These include the Asclepion MeDioStar’s LCD touch screen which displays an intuitive menu for both beginner and expert users; lightweight and ergonomic Monolith handpieces featuring a 360-degree contact skin cooling system that ensures absolute safety; and a multifunctional and upgradeable trolley that provides ample storage space for other handpieces and accessories, among others.

The event was capped with a tour of WAI’s facility. The Institute is a complex separate from the main hospital with its own elevators and a relaxing interior supplied with laminar airflow to reduce risk for airborne contamination. It features a hotel-like lobby and waiting area, a dedicated floor for aesthetic patients to assure their utmost privacy and confidentiality and of course, the latest technologies in skin analysis, aesthetic, and procedural dermatology.
