Monday traffic and water interruption due to busted pipe caused by a Third Party Contractor

Last Monday, April 13, was the first day of MECQ in Metro Manila, but motorists along EDSA Northbound were welcomed by a heavy traffic caused by a damaged pipe that was flooding all over the road. Aside from the traffic, barangays near the area experienced service interruptions due to the water pipe damage.

According to reports, the Manila Water's pipe was damaged by a third party contractor, Awin Technology, a contractor of MMDA, while doing a CCTV network installation. The pipe was busted on Sunday evening, leaving a portion of EDSA-Bonifacio Avenue flooded and some residents with no water service - including Mandaluyong, Pasig, San Juan City and Quezon City.

It has also been mentioned that this is the sixth time that the said contractor damaged Manila Water pipes since 2020. This time, the water pipe was broken while digging for their CCTV installation. MMDA has also expressed their apologies for this inconvenience.

Per Manila Water, repairs has already been completed and pressure is slowly building up. Following  the full restoration to all affected barangays, water service was completed at 6AM, Tuesday morning.
