Moira shares dreams and talent in Carousell’s Reboxing campaign

Everyone has goals and dreams. Whether it’s beginning a new career or reaching enlightenment, take the leap, follow your passion, and believe in yourself until you make it. This is what OPM artist Moira Dela Torre communicates to fellow dreamers as she joins Carousell’s Reboxing campaign to create new memories and opportunities with a fan.

The campaign, which is part of Carousell’s new tagline, “Everyone Wins,” aims to approach sustainability in a socially relevant manner, where, instead of unboxing new things, and consequently adding to the waste, users are encouraged to rebox preloved items that will go toward helping someone experience new possibilities or opportunities.

For Moira, becoming an instrument that will push people to follow their dreams is the core of helping everyone win. She said that a lot of opportunities have opened up for her but her success started out as a dream. Now, this dream is something that she would like to share and pass on.

“For this campaign, I want to share my dream and love for music, just like what my father and other people did to me. I want to pass this special item on to a fellow dreamer like me and hopefully help her in her own journey,” Moira shares.

Moira gave away a one-of-a-kind guitar which she and her husband, Jason, used to compose worship songs during the lowest points of her life. The said instrument was custom-made, given to her by ‘Gitara Ni Juan’ which means there’s nothing like it in any store.

The lucky winner who won the special prize was Jamie Manalang from Mandaluyong City. She was chosen after she shared her heartwarming story on Moira's Carousell page using the hashtag #EveryoneWins. She said: “I’m praying to have your guitar so I can bring it and sing worship songs at the National Center for Mental Health in Mandaluyong. I want to be able to share my talent and joy to the patients who are there. Many patients in NCMH have experienced a lot of pain, abuse, and trauma. They feel empty, unloved, and unlucky. Once I win your precious guitar, I promise to share the love of the Lord to them and give them hope.”

As a bonus, Jamie joined Moira in an intimate jamming session at Lampara in Makati City where they sang a duet of "Tagpuan" in front of the singer’s fans. Moira also performed her other hit songs including "Tagutaguan," "Malaya," and "Ikaw at Ako."

Everyone was surely a winner after the private gig as they were able to share a special moment with Moira while helping a charitable cause. All of the proceeds of the show were donated to Silungan ng Pag-Asa. Moreover, the money that she was able to collect after selling her preloved items on Carousell will be donated to the victims of the 6.5 magnitude earthquake that recently hit Mindanao.

Carousell Philippines’ Reboxing campaign aims to encourage people to declutter and lessen waste. Through this campaign, people can resell unused items in good condition, instead of unboxing new things, and consequently adding to the waste.

For Moira, there is a need to stop contributing to waste culture especially in a society where people love to buy and dispose of things.

"The very items that are now collecting dust in our storage is probably something that somebody else is trying to save up for; and that is why I absolutely love Carousell's new campaign, Reboxing," says Moira.

Aside from Moira, other partner celebrities including Erwan Heussaff, and Mari Jasmine, are reboxing preloved items that will go toward helping someone.

“We are happy with our Reboxing campaign because, aside from helping consumers find great deals, it can leave positive impacts to the environment. This campaign truly lives up to its tagline because everyone will benefit from it,” said Raffy Montemayor, Carousell Philippines general manager.
