Photography is an art form that speaks through the lens and into your soul. I remember during my college days when our Photojournalism professor would make us go around Manila and take photos that pique our interest. He would always say to bring him a photo with a good story. AirAsia also searched for the Travel Photographer that best represents the attractions and joys of travelling. And tonight, Kimberly Pauig, a writer from Pasig City, was awarded with the title as she defined portraiture, food, architecture and landscape through her camera lens.

From over 500 entries, six finalists flew to Macau, via AirAsia to compete in different challenges. They are Neil Michael Cardano, Mithilaya Miclat, Eliseo Zuniga, Daniel Magbanua, Dave Poblete and Kimberly Pauig. They wen around the Coloane Village, Fisherman's Wharf and other cultural attractions in Macau.

At the Final Show hosted by Tracy Abad, the top three finalists, Kimberly, Dave and Daniel - went through the final presentation and told the audience how they interpret their entries. The panel of judges included Nachi Ugarte, creative director of GRID Magazine; Jacob Maentz, documentary photographer; Wawi Navarrosa, artist/photographer, founder of Thousandfold; and Rudy Khaw, AirAsia Group's Head of Branding.

"We are impressed with the quality and composition of entries we received this year. The six finalists did a wonderful job in the final leg of challenges wit each of their photos revealing a compelling story. Needless to say, it was a difficult decision to choose only one winner." said Jacob Maentz.

Dave Gabriel won the People's Choice Award, where there was an online voting based on their entries. Daniel Magbanua was named the second runner up and Dave Gabriel won the first runner up category. As the AirAsia Travel Photographer 2016, Kimberly Pauig received 200,000 AirAsia BIG Points, a surprise vacation package and several prizes from partner brands GRID Magazine and Flight 001.
