I was very privileged to watch the advance screening of Snow White and the Huntsman last May 30 because of Helen and The Body Shop. Greta, one of the characters in this film is TBS's newest endorser for their "Beauty with Heart" campaign. I believe that their advocacy and the movie are fused with each other since its all about beauty, fairness and strong will.
Snow White and the Huntsman tells about the story that we all grew up to. But in this one, they did not dwell too much on the love story where she meets her Prince Charming and lived happily ever after. It spoke about the clueless, drunkard man who made it possible for Snow White to live and protected her from the hands of the Evil Queen.
While it was a good movie and has a good starring cast, the story may feel lacking of something. Sure, Chris Hemsworth is a fine eye-candy, and while Kristen Stewart's appearance is fit for the Snow White role, there is too much Twilight bits in the movie. One was when she was jumping off the cliff (reference to New Moon) and her seizures after biting the apple was too Bella-ish as she was turning into a vampire. Charlize Theron was very effective as the Evil Queen. Her "mirror, mirror on the wall, who's the fairest of them all" is a bit annoying, but her attempt to being evil and scheming was believable.
Overall, I'd still like the classic version of Snow White. And even I'm still in for girl power and making it in your own, I would want a Prince Charming that could somehow sweep me off my feet, even if its in the form of a Huntsman. So my verdict is 3 out of 5 stars.
