Meralco Gives Unprivileged Children a Brighter Future This Christmas

The Meralco Compound lights up again!
Every Christmas season, I would wait for the Meralco Compound to light up and see the spectacular lights and decorations. Last year, I enjoyed the Christmas village with my friends since my office is near the Meralco premises. This November 25, Meralco has opened its Liwanag Park once again for everyone to enjoy and even launched its Maliwanag Ang Pasko Program for the less fortunate children.

With Meralco's Ambassador of Light, Shamcey Supsup
Meralco, together with their Ambassador of Light, Ms. Shamcey Supsup, spearheaded the opening of the Meralco Liwanag Park where families and friends can enjoy a light show, Christmas Village, night bazaar, electric rides and more. What started last 2006, Maliwanag ang Pasko serves as Meralco's channels for supporting various charities by encouraging its customers to light up their homes this season.

Ambassador Manuel M. Lopez welcomes the guests
The festivity for this year was celebrated with the Meralco Choir singing Christmas songs. Philippine Ambassador to Japan, Manuel M. Lopez, also welcomes the crowd to the compound to witness the lighting and to invite everyone to join the Maliwanag ang Pasko Program. A medley of Christmas tunes were also performed by the Broadway Babies.

To support this program and be able to send 1,000 children to school next year, you may send in a photo of your home decked out in holiday lights enclosed with a caption to describe how you make Christmas brighter for your family this year. After snapping your entry, you can email it with your contact details at maliwanagangpasko@meralco.com.ph. They will accept your entries until December 20.

Meralco's CEO, Mr. Manny V. Pangilinan
Meralco Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Manny Pangilinan also wanted to invite everyone in their advocacy. After his talk, we all went outside the hall and counted for the whole compound to be lightened. The musical light show of a Christmas Medley was mesmerizing and it was then followed by a fireworks display. The event was fun! Thanks to Ms. Mitzi Dayrit and Martin for invite.

Lighting of the Compound
"Through the Maliwanag and Pasko Program, it is our desire to take an active role in sharing warmth and hope to every Filipino family and engage them to contribute to a better future for unprivileged children. By lighting up our homes together, we carry the light of Jesus, whom we are celebrating this season, to many Filipino children in need", said Meralco Chief Corporate Social Responsibility Officer and President of One Meralco Foundation Jeffrey Tayao.
