Okada Manila strengthens its commitment to responsible hospitality through measurable environmental, social, and governance initiatives outlined in its 2025 ESG Report.
Okada Manila has released its 2025 Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) Report, detailing measurable progress across its Okada Green Heart program—including the elimination of up to 2 million plastic bottles annually and the recovery of over 9,000 meals for communities—marking a significant step forward in its commitment to responsible hospitality.
As the Philippines’ largest Forbes 5-star integrated resort, Okada Manila continues to embed sustainability into its operations through initiatives that enhance resource efficiency, strengthen community engagement, and uphold responsible business practices. The report outlines key outcomes across environmental, social, and governance priorities, reinforcing a long-term approach to value creation that benefits both stakeholders and the broader community.
Aligned with globally recognized sustainability frameworks and supporting the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, Okada Manila’s ESG strategy reflects a disciplined and evolving approach to responsible growth—where operational excellence and social impact move forward together.
Okada Green Heart Pillars in Action
At the core of Okada Manila’s ESG strategy is the Okada Green Heart program, which brings together key pillars that guide the property’s sustainability and social impact initiatives.
In 2025, the resort advanced its Energy Efficiency efforts through smart systems, optimized operations, and the continued transition toward 100% LED lighting. The introduction of Entertainment City’s first electric vehicle (EV) charging station further supports the shift toward low-emission mobility.
Under Water Conservation, the implementation of the Nordaq system enabled on-site bottling of filtered water, significantly reducing reliance on single-use plastics and eliminating the need for large-scale transport—resulting in the removal of up to 2 million plastic bottles annually.
Progress in Waste Management was marked by strengthened circular practices, including food rescue initiatives that recovered over 2,800 kilograms of surplus food and redistributed more than 9,000 meals, while reducing approximately 5,500 kilograms of CO₂ emissions. Expanded efforts in sustainable packaging and material repurposing further minimized landfill impact.
Through the Talent and Community pillar, Okada Manila continued to invest in its people and partners, supporting health and wellbeing through medical and wellness programs, while contributing to environmental stewardship through tree planting and coastal cleanups that engage employees and local communities alike.
The Safety, Security, and Welfare pillar remained a priority, with continued investments in training, emergency preparedness, and operational safety. Participation in nationwide drills and life-saving training programs reinforced a culture of readiness and care across the organization.
Meanwhile, Responsible Gaming initiatives were enhanced through digital training modules and improved incident reporting systems, strengthening compliance and promoting a safe and responsible gaming environment for all guests.
Extending Impact Through Okada Foundation, Inc.
Complementing its ESG initiatives, Okada Foundation, Inc. (OFI) continued to expand its role in driving inclusive and sustainable development.
In 2025, OFI supported programs across food security, education, healthcare, arts and culture, and sports development. These included strengthening community-based nutrition programs, expanding access to digital learning through partnerships such as AuroraPH, and advancing healthcare initiatives through institutional collaborations.
The Foundation also championed Filipino excellence on the global stage—supporting artists through international exchange programs and backing athletes in their pursuit of excellence, including preparations for the 2028 Olympic Games.
Through these efforts, OFI reflects Okada Manila’s belief that meaningful progress is shared—creating opportunities that extend beyond the resort and into the communities it serves.
A Message from Okada Manila’s Leadership
“Guided by our vision to enrich lives through meaningful experiences, we continue to align our sustainability efforts with the evolving needs of our communities and stakeholders,” said Nobuki Sato, President and Chief Operating Officer of Okada Manila. “Through the Okada Green Heart program, we are strengthening how responsible practices are embedded across our operations, while creating value that extends beyond business performance. As we move forward, we remain focused on advancing sustainability, innovation, and shared progress.”
Raising the Standard for Responsible Hospitality
Recognized as the first integrated resort in the Philippines to receive the Forbes VERIFIED Responsible Hospitality badge, Okada Manila continues to shape a more responsible approach to tourism—one that integrates sustainability into the guest experience without compromising quality, care, or attention to detail.
Through Okada Green Heart, the resort continues to demonstrate that premium hospitality and responsible practices are not separate pursuits, but part of the same vision—where growth is measured not only by performance, but by the positive and lasting impact created for people, communities, and the environment.
