My Most Whimsical and Colorful Run Ever

Anne Curtis with UNICEF Country Representative Lotta Sylwander
I jump started my favorite month with the most colorful run ever, The Color Run Dream, for the benefit of UNICEF last September 3, 2017. Spearheaded by UNICEF Celebrity Advocate for Children Anne Curtis as the Happiest 5K on the Planet, The Color Run was held at the SM Mall of Asia grounds and slated by over 10,000 runners.

It was a privilege to join the Color Run because this five-kilometer and un-timed event is like a full blown party all for the benefit of children with disabilities. What made it more exciting is you get sprayed with a specific color each kilometer. 1st:Yellow, 2nd:Pink, 3rd:Purple, and 4th: Blue. At the last leg, we ran through a foam and bubble zone because after the Finish Line, you can party wearing all the colors of the unicorn!

Aside from being fit and feeling like a unicorn for the morning, we also got ourselves a Finisher's Medal. It's so cool because it is my first time getting one in a run. After finishing the fun run, a party led by Dream Machine Advocate Anne Curtis was held. There were different performances and DJ Tom Taus made it more magical with the music. Saying that I had fun is an understatement because even if my legs were feeling kind of numb with the running and walking, I still had the energy to dance and party the morning away.

The Color Run is the largest fun run series in the world and brought about 6M runners in 35+ countries. Here in the Philippines, it became possible though Anne Curtis' foundation, the Dream Machine. "Last year, we saw 7,000 runners making a difference for children's health and nutrition. This year, we are so happy to gather 10,000 runners in this colorful run to help children with disabilities to achieve their dreams," says Anne.

According to UNICEF Philippines, an estimated one out of seven children or around five million are living with disabilities that range from hearing, visual and mobility impairment including those who have development or learning disabilities. To address the situation, UNICEF aims to builds to four one-stop shops throughout the Philippines to provide comprehensive services such as diagnosis, provision of assistive devices, counseling, referral and therapy.

The Color Run is brought to us by Dream Machine and organized by RunRio. It is also made possible with the support of SM Mall of Asia, Cherry Mobile, Enervon, Jollibee, PMX, Swatch, Viva Artists Agency, Audi, B'lue, Salonpas, Toy Kingdom, Viva Live and Maynilad.
