Back to Boracay this 2014

May is already over and the rainy days are just around the corner. Good thing for some of us, the sun is still beaming like no tomorrow. And so, the boyfriend and I headed to my most favorite PH destination, Boracay, baby!

My first visit to Boracay was 2008. I've said before that I won't be back yet, until I've visited all the best places in the country, but when AirAsia had a seat sale last November, and Jeff hasn't been there for ages, I knew I just had to go back. And besides, it is just my much needed getaway from the hustle and bustle in the Metro.

We boarded the AirAsia Airbus. I noticed that they have the nicest aircrafts. And most of their people are really polite. I can't wait to board their planes again. It was such a great experience so far.

AirAsia only flies to Kalibo, and our accommodations, The Sitio Boracay helped me look for a transfer to Caticlan. They arranged it and we just had to look for the Island Star Express. Upon arrival, the bus was already waiting for us outside. Travel time to Caticlan Jetty Port was almost two hours.

What I loved about Island Star Express is you can just relax going to Boracay. They have packages where the terminal and environmental fees are already included. That way, you don't have that much hassle and you'd walk into the port and all that, like a boss. Their service varies from buses or vans, depending on the number of passengers they have that day.

Upon landing to Boracay, Island Star sent us directly to The Sitio Boracay so we can check in our bags. People in Sitio are so nice, and they are also one of the properties of the Gran Prix Hotels. I'll have a separate post for that. :)

And right there, the sea invited me

We didn't rest anymore after that, because I was so excited to see the beach again. You see, going back to Boracay is like meeting an old familiar friend. And even though a lot of things has changed (I was like "whoa bago!" all the time) seeing it again makes me feel happy. And I'm spending time there with my most favorite person.

Good thing he doesn't drink, because I'll leave him here :P
On our first day, we weren't able to score the local restaurants because a. it's very crowded when we got there and b. I was so hungry, I couldn't bear walk anymore, so our first meal was, Shakey's! I know, that was kind of weird, but I noticed that there aren't much local flavors there anymore. I'd always say, hala may McDo na here, or Wow, may Mann Hann pa.

Day two was different though, because we had lunch at Seabreeze Cafe. They serve lunch and dinner buffet. I'm not sure how much the dinner costs, but lunch was like Php550. It's affordable and they have an interesting menu. Plus, they also have a Mongolian-All-You-Can section.

Second timers in Boracay :)
A Boracay trip is not complete without seeing its famous sunset. So after getting our henna tattoos done, I asked the boyfriend to go to the shore. I must say that I don't mind having my afternoons like these.

Jonah's is a MUST

Another highlight of the Boracay trip is going to Jonah's! This is Jeff's first time so I got him the Banana Choco Peanut, while I had the Banana Mango. I wish they had these in Manila, but anyway, local flavor must stay in the local, right?

After our trip, I realized that walking at Boracay is a bit exhausting. Back in 2008, there were not so many establishments yet, and people doesn't literally flock during the night time. But you know, as long as there's the sun and the beach, Boracay will always be a happy place for me.

How about you? Where have you spent your Summer 2014? I absolutely cannot wait for my next adventure.
