Have you ever wondered what happens before you eat your favorite pizza? Recently, I have learned that it takes a lot of steps to ensure that the dough is fresh before serving the toppings. And Pizza Hut does it best with their world-famous pizza. What sets them apart is that they make their dough fresh daily, while using quality imported flour from the finest wheat plantations from around the world. And with the skillful hands of their dough master, it is only fitting that they highlight the artists behind their pizzas by holding its first National Dough Masters Challenge.
Last April 15, the competition for the best dough master took place at Pizza Hut SM Megamall. They have searched among the 158 Pizza Hut restaurants nationwide, the best dough masters who are making it great for its customers.
Pizza Hut dough masters from all over the country were pitted against each other to determine who among them can make the Gold Standard dough. Eight dough master pairs that emerged are from Pizza Hut Baguio, SM North, Mindanao Ave., Robinsons Novaliches, Robinsons Ermita, Marikina, Makati, Chino Roces, SM Sta. Rosa Laguna and Robinsons Bacolod.
The competition was evaluated based on strict world class dough quality standards including their speed in execution. Points were deducted for every deviation from gold standards.
"This competition was launched to encourage our dough masters to perfect their skills in dough making, and produce the best and freshest quality dough everyday. By using the accurate quantity of brand standard ingredients, the correct process, proper times and the right temperature, our dough masters are able to provide our customers the best pizza in Pizza Hut", says Pizza Hut Chief Operating Officer, Mr. TH Lim.
Among the eight pairs, here are the winners of the Pizza Hut National Dough Masters Challenge:
4th Place - SM North (71.4%) - Denver Pascual and Joaner Jaramillo
3rd Place - Mindanao Avenue (78.78%) - Jose Carlo Hugo and Lauro Barago Jr.
2nd Place - Chino Roces (82.8%) - Arturo Porteria and Julius Montezo
1st Place - SM Baguio (84.7%) - Rogelio Gramata and Edwin Foronda
As the first National Dough Masters Challenge for Pizza Hut, it is going to be more exciting in the years to come. And because of its high standards in making quality pizza, making them would be more challenging for these dough masters. Pizza Hut pizzas are made with the fresh dough baked daily and smothered with a special tomato sauce, tender meat toppings, crunchy vegetables and a double layer of 100% pure imported Mozarella cheese. Now everybody say, Yum Yum Yum Yum Yum!
