Modern Day Monster: Beastly

Beastly, starring Alex Pettyfer and Vanessa Hudgens, premieres at SM Cinema Megamall last April 19, 2011. Viva International Pictures, in cooperation with SM Cinema, Easy Rock and Love Radio held a red carpet advance screening at Cinema 2, with simultaneous screenings at SM Cebu Cinema 1 and SM Baguio Cinema 2.

The story was about a handsome high school senior, Kyle, (Pettyfer) who is full of himself and throws crazy pranks on his weak classmates. But when he purposely targets the high school witch, Kendra (Mary Kate Olsen), she decided to transform Kyle to be unattractive on the outside as he is on the inside. Now the "Beast" has one year to make someone fall in love with him and say the words "I LOVE YOU" to break the spell or else, he will never get his true form back again.

Now getting hopeless, he saw his former classmate, Lindy (Hudgens) whom he never dared ask out before. With her simplicity, Kyle decided to keep an eye out for her until the perfect opportunity came. He must protect her from a drug-fazed world that her father was involved in. When he took her home with his blind teacher Will (Neil Patrick Harris) and his nanny Zola (Lisa Gay Hamilton), he thought there was a huge chance for her to fall in love with him despite appearances.

Beastly's storylines are just like the animated movie Beauty and the Beast, minus Gaston plus an evil witch. I was so captivated by Mary Kate Olsen's character as a witch because she looks terrible in one scene but then look like a goddess on the other. And five stars for the graphics and the setting. I loved the flower gazebo and their high school campus because they're so inviting to look at.

Oh and one thing, SM Cinemas provide us viewers a more convenient way to get tickets delivered to your mobile phones. Try CINEMOBILE: Your mobile, your movie ticket. Visit smcinema.com to easily avail movie tickets of the latest movies in town.

Thanks to SM Cinema and Shaena for inviting us. Beastly opens across SM Cinemas on April 23, 2011.

Bloggerfest 2011 A Smashing Success!

Last year, Blogger Fiesta was held at the Bonifacio High Street and was attended by bloggers from Manila. Since it was indeed joined by most number of bloggers, a repeat (and even better) BLOGGERSFEST 2011 was born. And I am proud to be one of the attendees of this shindig.

BloggersFest 2011 was held last April 16 at the Thunderbird Resort, Binangonan Rizal. Two Hundred plus bloggers signed up and filled the Events Center to witness the "Extraordinary Online Video Contest Awarding & to attend the much awaited BloggersFest.

After the awarding, a series of resource speakers shared their knowledge about blogging and all there is to know about the business of blogs. They are as follows:

Azrael Coladilla of Azrael's Merryland Blog
"Blogging 101"

Micaela Rodriguez of Micamyx.com
"Sharing your story through personal blogging"

Jonel Uy of Blogger Manila
"Blogging and Writing with SEO in mind"

Fitz Villafuerte of Ready to be Rich.com
"How To Write Awesome Blog Posts"

Antonio Carranza JR of PusangKalye.net
"Photo Blogging Essentials"

Arvin Ello of Vintersections.com
"Beating Writer's Block and The Importance of Revision"

JP De Leon of Kampeon ng Pagibig.co
"Domain and DNS Management for your blogs"

Marlon Guzman of Solid Hosting
"How to Secure your Blog from Hacking"

As an added treat, the bloggers picked one workshop series to attend to, one they wanted to concentrate with. I chose to participate with Azrael's Blog Coverage, combined with Justin's (www.justinbreathes.com) Music Blogging workshop. After their talk, Indios, an indie band, was interviewed by the bloggers (ala Press Conference) regarding their upcoming album and even serenaded us with their original covers.

And what better way to end BloggersFest than winning a raffle! I got a solidhosting.ph web hosting for a year. Yay!

The whole day was tiring (Especially to Kits because the photographers made them walk to the resort area) but it was definitely a worthwhile experience. I got to learn from fellow bloggers, visit Thunderbirds Resort, and even made new friends. Kudos to Azrael for making BloggersFest a successful event.

Till the next BloggersFest everyone! :D

Happy Birthday to us, Baby! :)

They said we'll never make it, but here we are, stronger than ever! :D

OMG, Pyramid, Fight for This Love, I Love You, Because of You, and the list goes on and on. When two singers fall in love, they make good music (and relationship better). We don't have a theme song, but we have all the songs in the world to sing.

Rewind to April 18, 2010: Jeff was wooing me for a month. And after my Ilocandia trip with Mench, I knew I was already falling for the guy who goes all the way just so he could fetch me from work and send me home safely. He was my "constant" date and also a knight in shining armor. When I was about to see him on the eve on April 18,he chickened out on me that afternoon because he made plans to be with his family for his sister Jen, will be going to Canada already. As much as I was pissed, I just couldn't. So we went out instead on the afternoon of April 18, he played basketball with his former classmates, went out to see the Date Night and then and there at the Bay Area, he asked, "Kailan mo ba ko sasagutin?" (When will you be my girlfriend?). Then I answered, "Gusto mo ngayon na eh"(If you want, we can be an item now). It might sound very cheesy, but that moment was infinite. Like I never cared if I have questions in my mind and all that bothers me. I just had to fall deeply in love and everything will run smoothly.

Jeff and I do not have a perfect relationship. We have been tested for a lot of times. I had to know things about his past, the painful way, or get jealous of the people that are close to him, or his friends get envious of the awful lot of time he's willing to spend for me. We irritate each other sometimes, but its as if we never fought the next time we see each other again. We have loads of differences. Starting from religion, to personalities and even to friends. But we never let our differences drive us apart. We just had to learn that our lives are already the way they are before we met each other. And the only thing that matters is NOW. :)

Whenever we look back, we feel as if we've already been together for more than a year. Our experiences and trials makes a day feel like a whole year. And that makes us special.

Our trials are not yet over. But they all made us much stronger. And yes, I do it for LOVE, LOVE, LOVE. :)

Happy First Year Anniversary By! Thank you for always making me H-A-P-P-Y! I love you so much!

Samsung Introduces Top of the Line Technology This 2011

Samsung held its 2011 AV Roadshow this afternoon at the Crowne Plaza Hotel, Ortigas entitled: The Spectrum of Togetherness. Featuring in this very special event are all the innovative, and top of the line Samsung products that are now available in the Philippine Market. Launching their latest addition, the SAMSUNG SMART TV, a successful gathering full of colorful images and 3D technology was brought to life.

Our group was ushered into the Smart TV room first and they made a demonstration on how it works. With its metal bezel and sleek design, it could almost pass for a projected visual. All of us were amazed on the numerous feature it provides. Your smartphone can also serve as a remote control and the Samsung Smart TV is a real multi-tasker. Imagine browsing the Internet, access your social networking site and watching your favorite show at the same time.

Not only are these Smart TVs multi-faceted, but they can also bring a 3D movie inside your very own living room. With Samsung's 3D HyperReal Engine, they can turn your 2D videos and movie into 3D Images and wait, also into 3D Sound. Now don't you wish you have this inside your bedroom? I know I do!

Channeling all photo addicts like myself! Since summer is here and there are a lot of out of towns that are brewing up, we all need a high-tech camera that's easy to use and ready to capture our dream destinations. The Samsung NX11 provides crisp and clear images that can be produced by your high-end DSLRs, minus the bulky lenses. With the use of the i-Function lenses, you change settings through a button without taking the camera off the target. And yes, you can take pictures just by using your one hand.

If you think the NX11 is too professional and you just need a point and shoot digital camera, then the Samsung SH100 is your perfect match. This touchscreen camera features 14.2 Megapixel resolution and 26mm Wide Angle Lens with 5X optical zoom. Warning: This camera is a real hooker. With its wi-fi ability, you can post your pictures directly to your Facebook or transfer them into your laptop in no time. Simple? Nah. Innovative? Definitely!

After the exhibit, we were led into the Grand Ballroom to see more features of the Samsung Smart TV. Mr. Ariel Arias, Samsung's AV Business Unit Head, explained the capabilities of the product. They also boast of their Research and Development that sets them apart of their competitors. A group of panel, which consists of Samsung officers, also enlightened the audience as they were asked about the strengths and weaknesses (if there are any) of the Samsung Smart TV.

Exciting prizes were also at stake during the event. They raffled off digital cameras, home theaters and for the grand prize, a 40-inch Samsung Smart TV. Luckily, my friend Karch was picked out of the number of attendees. It was an eventful afternoon indeed. As for us non-winners, we get to have our World Traveller Luggages to bring home. Now I need a trip to plan and a rocking camera to win so I can have the best summer ever!

Samsung definitely showcases premium quality products that are cutting-edge and consumer friendly. These and more reasons why they won the Number One Award as the brand known for Innovation and Style from GFK. Thanks to Ms. Odette for the invitation to be part of this exciting event.

On The Go? Then Samsung Galaxy Tab is the Right Gadget for You

My life is very, very hectic. I have a full time job at a bank, I sometimes attend blogger events when I get invited and I do a freelance job at home. And most of the time, commuting is so time consuming that when a thought or two comes in my head for an article and I'm still in the LRT or MRT, I forget them when I get home.
When my handy-dandy phones fail, I need something to back me up and write even inside a moving vehicle (Yup, that's how workaholic I am!). And while my planner can accommodate that need, I still have to retype it and believe me, it doesn't cut the time in half.

So I think I need to invest in a device that can do those and more. Luckily, SAMSUNG GALAXY TAB is the best choice that I'm rooting for. Amazing features, a multitasking gadget, a media player and a mobile phone in one package. And my boss might even get amazed for a load of work done in one day!

Like Carlos Celdran (Manila tour guide/historian) and JP Tuason (Founder and CEO of Tuason Racing School and TRS Driver Development Academy), many are believers of the Samsung Galaxy Tab. Check out their testimonies below:

Carlos and JP and their Samsung Galaxy Tab (Source: Samsung's Press Release)

Getting around the complexities of everyday living and juggling tons of responsibilities while doing daily tasks could be difficult to manage. In today’s fast-paced world, everybody could use a little help.

JP Tuason, Founder and CEO of Tuason Racing School and TRS Driver Development Academy, and one of the most controversial Manila tour guide/historian Carlos Celdran lead extremely busy lives. Having to do multiple tasks at a time, both of them are always on the go, and every minute to them is valuable. To breeze through their day to day activities, Carlos and JP have found the help that they need in Samsung Galaxy Tab.

The controversial Carlos Celdran knows Manila’s history all too well. Better still is his fusion of music, theater and comedy into his dynamic and interactive tours of Manila making it the complete package just like his Samsung Galaxy Tab .

“Its an all-in-one device. It’s a laptop, camera and mobile phone all rolled into one gadget,” says Celdran. “I don’t need to bring anything else when I go around,” he adds. Operating on Android 2.2 (Froyo) the Samsung Galaxy Tab measures a mere 190.09mm x 120.45mm x 11.98mm and weighs in at just 380g making it smaller and lighter than any notebook computer yet handy enough to stuff into a small bag.

“My favorite thing about it is that it’s sturdy. It’s not delicate. And it is strong enough to withstand all the hits and bangs of my lifestyle,” says Celdran

Celdran, who often works the streets of Binondo and Intramurous, as it’s most sought after tour guide cum historian and now public figure, is regularly seen wearing a hat, a portable sound system and a shoulder bag, literally takes his office with him wherever he goes nowadays.

“Its like my office goes around with me. Simply because of the telephone feature it has made it an integral part of my existence,” he remarks. The Galaxy Tab is currently the only tablet device with voice telephony taking mobile communication to a whole new level. “Its like a personal assistant,” he compares. “Its always there when you need it and it gets the job done. For my presentations its great too!”

What Celdran likes in particular is the Galaxy Tab’s one-touch functionality of getting photos from either the front or back built-in cameras on to his social network of Facebook and Twitter. While the front-facing camera (1.3MP) allows face-to-face video telephony over 3G, the rear-facing camera (3MP with auto-focus and LED flash) captures still images and video that you can edit, upload and share, all without any hassle. “I can show YouTube videos on it (while on the go)” he shares among the multiple things he can do on the Galaxy Tab. The handheld gadget is also capable of full HD video playback with its 7.0 inch TFT-LCD, WSVGA (1024 x 600) display.

Among his favorites apps are Facebook, Twitter, Hotmail, and yes, Angry Birds too! “Don’t underestimate the Samsung Galaxy Tab. It goes beyond the call of duty,” attests Celdran. With thousands of free apps available in the Android market the possibilities on the Samsung Galaxy Tab are endless, almost.

JP Tuason, Founder and CEO of Tuason Racing School and TRS Driver Development Academy, is always looking to be cutting edge in racing and in educating Filipino motorists. The same is true when it comes to his gadgets.

“TRS is always innovating. We like to be progressive and the marriage of speed and technology with motorsports keeps us in the lead both on and off the track,” shares Tuason, a Samsung Galaxy Tab user. In a sport where every millisecond counts, performance means everything. “I really like the size and functionality of the Galaxy Tab. There are many ways it fits very well in my motorsport lifestyle,” shares Tuason.

Operating on Android 2.2 (Froyo) the Samsung Galaxy Tab measures a mere 190.09mm x 120.45mm x 11.98mm and weighs in at just 380g making it smaller and lighter than any notebook computer giving it perfect portability even around the racetrack.

“I use the camera to take videos of my students on the track (then) play back their mistakes to be corrected,“ says Tuason referring to the Galaxy Tab’s 3MP rear-facing camera with auto-focus and LED flash and full HD video playback with its 7.0 inch TFT-LCD, WSVGA (1024 x 600) display.

With thousands of free apps available in the Android market, the possibilities on the Samsung Galax Tab are endless, almost.

“I have a multiple driver stop watch (Multi Timer Pro) which helps me time competitors and keep track of how we are doing as a team,” he adds.

“I (also) use a drawing app (AnDrawing Plus) to explain race theories,” reveals the three-time karting champion and Asian Formula 3 driver.

A firm believer in the continuous pursuit of knowledge, Tuason attended top racing schools in the U.S. where he received advanced instruction from world-famous institutions such as Skip Barber Racing School, Richard Petty Driving and Michael Andretti Speed Lab before establishing TRS.

“The combination of the phone, camera and tablet (features) make it an all-in-one device which currently has no rivals,” he quips.

Like pushing the racecar to its safe limits, Tuason also maximizes his Galaxy Tab by using its spreadsheet and email functionalities.

“I have an unlimited data plan which allows me to go online and be connected wherever I am,” he says.

Ultimately, the device to Tuason is like a sports car. “(Its) very fast, looks good and draws a lot of attention.”

Got A Secret? : Pretty Little Liars

Yes two can keep a secret if one of them is dead

Since I can't spend my summer anywhere for the moment, I suddenly got hooked with the Pretty Little Liars Series. Currently on season break, I actually waited until the first season to finish so I wouldn't be left hanging for more.

Could the Queen Bee still possibly be around?

Pretty Little Liars is based from a series of novels by Sara Shepard. The TV series, stars Lucy Hale (Aria Montgomery), Shay Mitchell (Emily Fields), Ashley Benson (Hanna Marin), Troian Bellisario (Spencer Hastings) and Sasha Pieterse (Alison DiLaurentis).

Aria falls in love with the gorgeous teacher, Ezra Fitz

The story revolves around these five popular girls with Alison as their Queen Bee. But when Ali mysteriously disappeared and a year after, turned out murdered, the four who were left out was bombarded by messages by an anonymous person named "A". A keep threatening them about a secret about the other girl Jenna who got blind because of Ali's doing. And while they keep getting the truth out, the lies keep on piling up together with an unknown enemy.

No, its not from Gossip Girl. Its from "A" who knows all your secrets

Seriously, I couldn't get off the TV without finishing an episode. Pretty Little Liars has a "I Know What You Did Last Summer" meets "Gossip Girl" vibe going on. "A" w as pretty creepy because you wouldn't know his or her next move towards the girls. I also love how they inject family problems and love dilemmas even if they're in a middle of a mysterious crime. Now I can't wait to finish the series and get on to Season 2.

Also, Shay Mitchell (Emily) is half-Filipina, just as I suspected. Something to be proud of again. And if you think Lucy Hale (Aria) is cutesy on the series Privileged, she showed her acting prowess in Pretty Little Liars. I think I pretty much nail myself watching this show because of my enthusiasm for Investigative Journalism.

Since Pretty Little Liars Season 1 ended last March, ETC will air them on April 30 on Catch Up Weekend from 3-6 P.M. You can check out their Facebook Page at http://www.facebook.com/etctv for the schedule.

When I Feel Sad, Chocolates Make My Day...

And last Friday, when I feel super stressed because of traffic, Krispy Kreme's Chocolate Creations made with Toblerone made my night extra special. When the boyfriend told me that he wanted something sweet, I immediately dragged him to Krispy Kreme North EDSA.

See, I'm kind of loyal to the Original Glazed Doughnut. Everytime I go to Krispy Kreme, I would order the same thing or buy a different flavor to give out and ask them for a bite just so I could try them. But this time, one of my favorite chocolates gave a much better meaning to bust out the tiring night. Just my kind of comfort food! :)

And do you know how you can attest if its true love? It's when he shares the same sweet tooth as yours. Krispy Kreme's Hersheys Cookies and Cream is yummy when shared with your someone special.

Our oh-so-sweet date is definitely worth all the stress that we had over the EDSA traffic. I can't wait to replay yet another Krispy Kreme night with him. Do you love chocolates too? Try them all and bring a date or be sweet to your family and treat them with these delectable goodies.

Krispy Kreme SM North Edsa is located at Unit 227 2nd Floor, SM City North Edsa New Annex Bldg, EDSA, Quezon City
